SSC CHSL Exam Pattern 2019

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern 2019 is the most important detail for the candidates who are appearing in the examination. The candidates must know all the important details of the SSC CHSL Exam Pattern & Syllabus 2019 to be well prepared for the examinations. a. SSC CHSL Tier 1 – Computer Based Written Examination

b. SSC CHSL Tier 2 – Descriptive Test

c. SSC CHSL Tier 3 – Skill Test / Typing Test for the posts of DEO, PA/SA, LDC, and Court Clerk.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern 2019 – Tier 1

The SSC CHSL Tier I is of objective type consisting of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). It has four sections with a total of 100 questions. The different sections and marking scheme of SSC CHSL Tier 1 exam are tabulated below:

The total time duration for the Tier 1 exam is 60 minutes. Previously, the time duration was 75 minutes. The time duration has been reduced since last year. There is a penalty for wrong answers in this exam; 0.50 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer, except for the English Language section, this test will be conducted bilingually, i.e. in English and Hindi. SSC CHSL Exam Pattern 2019 -Tier 2

The SSC CHSL Descriptive Test is conducted in pen and paper-based mode. The SSC CHSL Tier II exam pattern is tabulated below:

The total time duration for SSC CHSL Tier 2 is 1 hour. This section too will be available in both English and Hindi. Candidates need secure at least 33 percent in this exam in order to clear this stage of SSC CHSL exam.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern For Skill Test / Typing Test

The SSC CHSL Skill Test / Typing Test is only qualifying in nature. The SSC CHSL Tier 3 score will not be considered for final merit listing. The skill test is only conducted for candidates applying for the Data Entry Operator (DEO).

  • Typing Test: To be qualified for the exam, English typing- test will require a speed of 35 words per minute and Hindi typing- the test will require a speed of 30 words per minute mandatory. Typing test is applicable for Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant, LDC, and Court Clerk posts.
  • Skill Test: This test demands data entry speed of 8,000 key depressions per hour on the computer. Skill test is conducted for Data Entry Operator post.

SSC CHSL Tier II Syllabus

As mentioned above, this paper requires candidates to write an essay and Letter/Application that tests the writing skills of the candidates. The essay topics will be related to National Interest, Finance & Economy, Ecological Issues, Social Issues, Politics, Schemes & Governance, Technology, Sports, Geopolitics, Environmental Concerns etc. While, the type of letter/ application asked will be Complaint, Suggestion, Application, Official Appreciation, Follow up or Feedback etc.

SSC CHSL Tier III Syllabus

Tier-III of SSC CHSL 2019 will be a Skill/ Typing Test which would be of qualifying nature. The final merit of the selected candidates will be based on the basis of total score obtained in Tier-I and Tier-II.
